Description: This ADVENT prototype shotgun used rare alloys to reduce its weight.Description: This ADVENT prototype submachine gun was rejected because it burned through too much ammunition. These are the ones you should be keeping an eye on during your campaign: Lastly, even if they're rare, you can still use the tools we mentioned above to further improve them. These are not only great replacements for your default weapons, but also carry their own effects and special abilities. In XCOM: Chimera Squad there's also special weapons to either purchase from the Scavenger's Market or obtain during missions. Keep this in mind depending on which faction you're fighting against, since it will really make a difference. Diverse ammo rounds can set enemies on fire, poison them, or even do more damage against an specific unit. You can also increase the size of ammo rounds, or add a scope to further improve an agent's aim.ĭifferent ammo rounds can really grant an advantage if you're not dealing enough damage to certain types of enemies, whether they are robots, Psionic types, or just have lots of armor. Using a Stock will allow for your squad to deal damage even if they miss a shot, while the Auto Loader will grant them a free reload during missions that don't cost an action to use, which is incredibly helpful for long encounters. Once the campaign kicks off and you start having a couple of Assembly projects ready (don't forget to buy your new items in the Supply room!) it's time to pay attention to ammo rounds and special accessories for your weapons. Agents like Cherub and Godmother are great to start out, so giving them this advantage can be highly beneficial. Shotguns and pistols come in a second place, although they tend to be present as well. Many prioritize assault rifles, so that's a choice that will most likely suit you regardless of your choices. The weapons you want to prioritize would depend on which agents you usually take on missions. This will speed them up considerably, so unless they're taking care of a Spec Op or having a session in the Training grounds, this is a mandatory action to make the best use of your limited time. Something the game doesn't tell you is that you can assign a squad member outside of the group of four in missions to one of these projects. Once you have a stable foundation of weapons, you can move towards items like grenades, breaching tools, and so on. In fact, we wish we would have focused more on this first and foremost. For our walkthrough, we mainly went for better armor for everyone, but focusing on weapons proved to be equally important in the long run. Assembly projects are key in the progression of your XCOM: Chimera Squad campaign, but it can be hard to know exactly what to prioritize.
